Our house
After a century in operation, Kunstnernes Hus is in poor condition: the building does not meet today’s standards for sustainability and universal accessibility. The rehabilitation is estimated to cost 186 million NOK. We are glad to have received 40 million NOK from Sparebankstiftelsen DNB, as well as 7.5 million NOK from the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Oslo Municipality. We still need additional contributions from public and private supporters to secure and preserve future of the institution.
The planned rehabilitation will be carried out by the architects at Atelier Oslo, with a focus on:
- Preservation through use – securing the building for the future
- Accessibility and universal design
- Sustainable materials and processes
- General rehabilitation and improvement
