#HusetVårt
After a century in operation, Kunstnernes Hus is in poor condition: the building does not meet today’s standards for sustainability and universal accessibility. The rehabilitation is estimated to cost 186 million NOK. We have received 40 million NOK from the Sparebankstiftelsen DNB, but still need additional contributions from public and private supporters to secure and preserve future of the institution.
#HusetVårt (OurHouse) is a campaign for everyone who is fond of Kunstnernes Hus, which serves to make the process transparent. The planned rehabilitation will be carried out by the architects at Atelier Oslo, with a focus on:
- Preservation through use – securing the building for the future
- Accessibility and universal design
- Sustainable materials and processes
- General rehabilitation and improvement
About us
Kunstnernes Hus manages an iconic building on behalf of the nation, creating the art history of the future. Since opening in 1930, we have been a constant and vibrant meeting place for art and culture. Our owners are Norway’s artists, organized through various professional associations.
Kunstnernes Hus remains the platform where many of the country’s most important artists make their debut and where Norwegian art is placed in an international perspective. At the house, art is presented through exhibitions, film screenings, talks, concerts, lectures, and seminars, while art is also created in children’s workshops and educational spaces.
