I am historical! – a pathological examination

Welcome to an exhibition by Ingvild R. Grande and five master's students in clothing and costume design.
About the exhibition
A group of five master's students in clothing and costume design is conducting a pathological examination of inherited garments from a recently deceased woman at KHiO's sewing studio in Oslo. Over the course of three weeks, materials and fabric samples will be analyzed and compiled into a medical report. The findings will be presented as individual works at the Academy's Room at Kunstnernes Hus.
This investigation nr 7 is part of the ongoing artistic research I am Historical; methods for clothing dramaturgies, led by PhD candidate Ingvild R. Grande (NTNU/HVO). The inherited garments belonged to the candidate's grandmother, Jorunn Alvhilde Grande (1924-2024), a white middle-class woman from a small town in Trøndelag. The overarching goal of the project is to bring new knowledge about clothing's ability to revive deeply human experiences across time and space.
