On 13 August, the artist-run initiative Objektiv Editions opens a small temporary space on Kunstnernes Hus' ground floor.

The opening is open and free for everyone, welcome!

About the project

Objektiv Editions: Books, Prints, and Videotapes will exhibit books about and with camera-based art, as well as show video works and sell photographic editions in an extension of the Kunstnernes Hus bookstore. A collaboration between artist and editor Nina Strand, Objektiv Press and Kunstnernes Hus.

About the event

For the opening, we welcome you to a presentation of two publications documenting artistic reflections upon the ongoing pandemic. The forthcoming publication Dette Året (This Year), edited by Sofie Amalie Klougart and Christian Belgaux is a photographic portrayal of Norwegian society during the COVID–19 crisis. Fifty-three Norwegian photographers working at the intersection of artistic practice and documentary strategies have made original work in response to the pandemic.

In April last year, Objektiv initiated the online series Visual Wanderings, for which photographers from all over the world made art that responds to our new situation. The series ended in June 2021 and Objektiv #23: Visual Wanderings collects many of the contributions. Norwegian artist Sara Larsen Stiansen developed the film Out of Love for the series, and we will exhibit it at Kunstnernes Hus alongside a poster by the American artist Carmen Winant.

Upcoming events

On the occasion of the Fotobokfestival Oslo, which takes place between 19 and 29 August, Objektiv Editions will present two conversations. On Friday 20 August, artists and writers Morten Andenæs and Nina Strand will talk about Objektiv's new essay initiative. And on Friday 27 August, artist Thora Dolven Balke will talk about her upcoming photo book.

The space is open for visitors on August 13, 20 and 27 between 3 pm - 6 pm.
