Shovelware

A group exhibition by students from the Academy of Fine Art showcasing works with artistic practices relating to the digital either materially or thematically. «Shovelware» is a derogatory term defined as "information that is put onto a website or CD-ROM without being checked or changed to make sure that it is suitable or useful".

About the participating artists

Mateo Jimenez Tilrem (b. 2004, Oslo) works with photography and video, with a particular interest in screen culture and internet phenomena.

Idma Puggaard (they/them) (b. 2000 DK) works with 3D animation and sculptures, exploring fluidity, gender identities and virtual worlds.

Mathias Eugen Engen (b. 1990) works with selfmade AI models, software, video and performance, exploring artificial intimacy, community and alienation.

Sigurd Ese (b. 1981 Oslo) primarily works with digital 3D graphics and animation. Recurring elements are world-building and existential friction.

Nana Umetani Schulze (b. 2003, Ichikawa) works with images and objects in space.

Embla A.U.V. Moe (b. 1999, Oslo) works with installation, video and sound with a thematic focus on perception, perspective and subjective experience.

Viktor Lier (b. 2001, Fredrikstad) shows analog and electronic works.

About KHiO QuARTerly

The exhibition is part of KHiO QuARTerly a public program at Akademirommet at Kunstnernes Hus hosted by the three visual departments at Oslo National Academy of Arts (KHiO) — Art & Craft, Design and the Academy of Fine Art.
