H.M. Berard

This retrospective exhibition of paintings and watercolors by French H. M. Bérard was shown at Kunstnernes Hus in early 1963. This was the first time that Bérard had been exhibited in Norway. The exhibition was set up on the artist's own initiative and the gole was for it to give the public an orientation in Bérard's art.
H. M. Bérard (1896-1967) was a French artist from Salindres. He is best known for his abstract paintings, which he began in 1915. After exhibiting his early experiments and works, he became a leader of the "musical movement" and, with several others, led the Réalités Nouvelles group, which focused on abstract art.
Bérerd had a number of exhibitions with Braque, Picasso, Matisse and Mondrian.
He is represented by, among other things:
MOMA in New York, the Art Institute in Chicago and the Musée National d´Art Moderne in Paris.
Katalogtekst
