About Sampson Addae
Addae's practice explores redemption and the crisis of everyday materials. His works are usually made from used clothes which he describes as discarded bodies. Critical to his practice is the collaborative process by which he collect, remakes and install the “discarded bodies” involving people from every age group and cultural background, capturing almost everyone as culprits in the crisis. His artworks characterised by squeezed “anonymous bodies” rebirth the experiences and emotions of its former wearers. His works invite other bodies (viewers) to reflect on how circumstances influence questions of value and the distractive nature of uncontrolled desires.
Sampson Addae was born in Ghana, currently lives and works in Oslo, and completed a master's degree at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) in spring 2024. He holds a bachelor's degree in painting and sculpture from the College of Arts at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana.
