The elevator that connects the ground floor with the lower exhibition hall and the skylight halls is out of service. Yet again. We have received reactions to this — and with good reason.
Our daily operations depend on a well-functioning elevator that makes all the building’s floors accessible to our visitors, staff, and exhibition technicians. Kunstnernes Hus was built in 1930, when universal design unfortunately did not top the list of priorities. In 2025, our visitors travels several hundred kilometers to visit our exhibitions, only to find closed (elevator) doors.
This inadequate condition is a fundamental reason why we need support to carry out the building's rehabilitation. Central to this undertaking is adapting this unique building to what it is meant to be: an accessible house for everyone!
We are working intensively to repair the elevator – which nevertheless remains only a temporary solution until it can be replaced as part of the rehabilitation. Update to follow.
