A lone dancer appears in our restaurant for a choreography that is seeking a fleeting encounter between the dancer and the dance, where emotions, hesitation and determination engages the body in a state of alteration.
Of the Heart – An Etude is a choreography created by Armin Hokmi. After an international tour of Hokmi’s work that has received widespread critical and public acclaim, Hokmi’s work comes home to Oslo.
“A piece conceived for one dancer, Of the Heart is seeking a fleeting encounter between the dancer and the dance. An encounter where emotions, that of hesitation and determination mark the eruptive passage of a choreographic writing that engages the body in a state of alteration. A sustaining of an impulse in search for a physical form, a shapeshifting inclination in surrender. A study on an elusive wrestle with the music, Of the Heart begins and evolves as a physical act in discord.”

About the choreographer
Armin Hokmi is working with dance and choreography. His work on stage began in 2009 as a performer with independent theater in Iran. He later continued to work and study abroad towards experiences with multiple performative practices and mediums. He holds a B.A. in acting from Norwegian Theatre Academy (2015-2018) and has received his M.A. in Solo/Dance/Authorship at HZT Berlin (2019-2021).
With passion and rigour Armin's choreographic writing is dedicated to conceiving movement languages that interplay between a sense of familiarity with known forms, and practices that elude recognition. Cultivating a horizon where different possibilities of referentiality converge in contrast and alteration.
