One Room After Another

Throughout the summer, the artists from the FKDS studios at Kunstnernes Hus will showcase their exhibitions. One Room After Another presents works by Doris Guo, Mariusz Maslanka and Mathew Lacosse with a commissioned text by Chloe Elgie.

About the artists

Doris Guo (b. 1992, USA) currently lives and works in Oslo. She received her BFA in Painting from Pratt Institute in 2014 and graduated from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2023. Solo exhibitions include Back at Empty Gallery, Hong Kong (2023), disorientations at VI, VII, Oslo (2023), Shanghai San Francisco Richmond Seattle New York Oslo (TRACE) at Victoria, Seattle (2023), inge, New York (2022), 9PM Til I at Éclair, Berlin (2019), XO at Bodega, New York (2019), Coffee & Tea at Princess, New York (2018) and Joss at Real Fine Arts, New York (2017). Mariusz Maslanka (b. 1992, Poland) lives and works in Oslo, where he recently completed his MFA from Oslo National Academy of the Arts. He previously earned a Master's degree in Printmaking from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw. Maslanka works primarily with sculpture, installation, and image. Recent solo exhibitions include HULIAS, Oslo (2023), I am you, but stronger at Gallery SIC BWA Wroclaw (2020), Quake at Cave Gallery during PSF Berlin (2019). Recent group exhibitions include Statens 135. kunstutstilling, Høstutstillingen at Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo (2022), Psychopomp at The National Ossolinski Institute, Wrocław (2021), The night will drive a heart at Contemporary Museum, Wroclaw (2021).

Mathew Lacosse was born in 1990, on Treaty No. 6 territory in Canada and currently lives in Oslo. He has a BFA from the University of Manitoba and an MFA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Selected exhibitions include Heerz Tooya, Bulgaria (2023); Guttormsgaards Arkiv, Norway (2023); Kunstnernes Hus, Norway (2023); and Platform Centre for Photographic and Digital Arts, Canada (2018). He has been artist in residence at Plug In ICA, Canada (2024), ARV.International, Bulgaria (2023), and PRAKSIS Oslo, Norway (2018). Currently, Lacosse is working with Thora Dolven Balke under the Norwegian Kunstnerassistantordningen.

Chloe Elgie (b. 1997, Toronto) is an artist based in Oslo. She received her BFA in Intermedia from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2020 and an MFA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2022. Solo exhibitions include Chew the fat at Borgenheim Rosenhoff, Oslo (2023), Pursuing Organ, at Centralbanken, Oslo (2022), Amator at Santolarosa, Oslo (2021), You Sing, I Consult at Anna Leonowens Gallery, Halifax (2020). Recent group exhibitions include Thank God for Music, Borgenheim Rosenhoff, Basel, (2024) Cover Stories, Bunny’s Garage, Oslo (2023), The Mirror of Production, Kunsthall Oslo (2023), The Penitentiary Review, Centralbanken/June Art Fair, Basel (2023), The Language of Flowers, Hermetiske Skygger, Oslo (2023), Organized by Slemmestad Fine Arts, Caravan, Oslo (2022), And in two weeks I’ll have a new face, Anna Leonowens Gallery, Halifax (2019), Obey Convention 2017, Halifax.
