Do you think board games are fun and would you like to learn how to develop your own? Then you should join this workshop with Markus Moestue.

The course instructor

Markus Moestue is an artist and has created the boardgame Equity, which is about price bubbles in art and stock trading. Like most artists, he is concerned with doing things his own unique way, and based on an interest in activism he has not only developed this board game, but he has also created video works with political satire, cycled across the Bible belt on a dinosaur sculpture and launched a critical tourist map of Oslo.

As a participant in this boardgame workshop you will get to hear more about his artistry and about the process of developing and publishing the board game Equity, but most of all the workshop is about how you can develop a board game based on your own ideas.

About the workshop

With guidance from Markus the participants will discuss in groups and develop new board game concepts and learn to build prototypes. You will get access to dice, playing pieces, markers and cardboard and everything you need to build a board game.

On the second course day, we test play each other's fresh prototypes and get feedback and the opportunity to improve the games. The goal of the workshop is to be left with rules, game boards and balanced mechanisms with the potential to become a finished board game.

Equity03

The workshop runs over two evenings and a total of six hours and is suitable for anyone who wants to learn how to develop their own board games, regardless of previous knowledge.

The workshop is based on collaboration in groups of two to three participants. The course instructor puts groups together, but if you are three friends who want to sign up as a group, that is also fine. You will be able to inform about this in the registration form.
