Avgang 2025: Missing-Out
Welcome to this exhibition by George Seamus McGoldrick, which is the artist's individual MFA graduation project from the Academy of Fine Art (Oslo National Academy of the Arts).
This spring, the graduating Master students of the Academy of Fine Art present their individual graduation projects in different spaces at KHiO, at the Academy Room in Kunstnernes Hus and in other locations around Oslo.
About the exhibition
"In the early 2000’s aged 10, I would often find the burnt-out remains of parties held in the woods next to my parents' house. I was too young to join in and satisfied myself by imagining what they must have been like. Years later my memories of these imagined nights are clearer than those of the parties that I really attended.
In the mid 1500’s the Dutch painter Pieter Bruegel The Elder began producing paintings of rural peasant life. Many of the images, which appear initially to faithfully document the lives and struggles of working people, instead reveal a system of image-making in which Bruegel’s own missed experiences are overlaid and exaggerated."
