Opening: Back to the Land
Welcome to the opening of Jannik Abel's exhibition Back to the Land - a performance and happening from start to finish. The art in this exhibition needs you to be complete; in this time our collective forces must be gathered.
P.S.: You will need to take off your shoes to enter the exhibition, so remember bringing thick wool socks or even slippers.
Practical info & program
The house opens to the public at 18:30 and there will be a bonfire outside to keep you warm.
When you enter you will be asked to take off your shoes, so we recommend bringing thick wool socks or slippers.
The program starts around 19:00 with a speech by Jannik Abel and a performance that will only take place this evening. The performers are: Maria Elisabeth Rommel (yoga teacher), Maja S. K. Ratkje (performing composer), Janne Heltberg (actor), Guri Glans (actor) and Oda Radoor (playwright).
The bar is open before the speech and opens again after the performance with drinks and pizza slices. We ask you kindly to not bring drinks into the exhibition halls.
The exhibitions are open until 10:00 PM and the house is open until 1:00 AM with a party and DJ in the foyer. Welcome, we look forward to seeing you!
About the exhibition
Jannik Abel's exhibition explores creating with limitations in material, but without limitations in format and intention. Back to the Land is an expression of re-establishing connections to the landscape that has, over time, been underestimated, even repressed. The title also refers to the global movement "Land Back" which aims to return land to indigenous peoples. The exhibition is made with limitations in material: everything used is gathered in the forest, shaped with saw, knife and axe, and has the potential to turn to soil over time. Back to the Land has been created over the past year, which means that Abel has created within the context of several worldwide crises.
Eli Mai Huang Nesse's exhibition Close will also be open this evening. Read more about it here
