High Life by Claire Denis

04.10.19 – 27.10.19
High-Life-program

We have the pleasure of showing High Life (2018), the latest film of French director Claire Denis! The film centres around a spaceship on its way to a black hole, manned by former members of a crew of prisoners – death row inmates. A sensual, eerie film experience that leaves a lasting impression.

In cooperation with Vega Scene and Cinemateket.

About the film

Deep space: Monte (Robert Pattinson) and his daughter Willow live together aboard a spacecraft, in complete isolation. A man whose strict self-discipline is a shield against desire, Monte fathered her against his will as part of a scientific experiment. Out of all the former passengers of the spaceship (amongst others Juliette Binoche as a strange professor and André 3000 as an intergalactic gardener), at last only Monte and Willow remain. Through his daughter, he experiences the birth of an all-powerful love. Together, father and daughter approach their destination – the black hole in which time and space cease to exist.

The black hole was designed by Denis in cooperation with artist Olafur Eliasson and his light installation Contact (2014).
