GRITT

Itonje Søimer Guttormsen in conversation with Maria Fosheim Lund
Thursday 17.06.21

We're proud to present Itonje Søimer Guttormsen's newest film GRITT (2021). The screening will be followed by a conversation between the director and Maria Fosheim Lund, research librarian at the National Library's film department and member of the program council of Kunstnernes Hus' cinema.

About the film

Gry-Jeanette left Norway with the dream of becoming an actress. Now, 17 rambling years later, having failed to find either fame in Hollywood or notoriety in Berlin, she’s back, as Gritt. Whilst her old friends from college have established successful careers on the Oslo theater circuit, Gritt is passionate about manifesting a radical collective ritual. But nobody seems to care. When she receives yet another funding rejection, and is thrown out of her apartment, Gritt's situation becomes increasingly desperate.

GRITT was selected to the main competition in both Rotterdam and Gothenburg Film festivals, and recently won the main price for best film at Vilnius Film Festival.
