About this edition
Kamal Aljafari's work is about memory politics and archives. The artist's distinctive approach to archival material as a tool for dealing with stolen history raises important questions — not only for those familiar with his films, but for a broader dialogue about the role of film in reclaiming stories that have been silenced or neglected. Aljafari's work encourages us to examine how moving images can be used as a critical tool for rethinking the past.

About the artist
Kamal Aljafari is a Palestinian artist, film director and producer. He works with moving images, interweaving fiction, non-fiction, and art. His work proceeds from a belief in an exploration of cinema's power to bear witness. His work has been shown at film festivals such as the Berlinale, Locarno, Viennale, Rotterdam, and museums such as the MoMA and Tate Modern.
