Vanessa Baird has marked herself as one of the most uncompromising voices in Norwegian contemporary art. In 2013, her work To everything there is a season, intended for the terror affected government quarter in Oslo, was rejected by the Norwegian authorities due to fear of reactions of anxiety and grief among the employees. The decision created a great deal of debate in the media about the influence of art in the public space. Kunstnernes Hus later chose to exhibit the work in an exhibition that received great audience support.
The exhibition You Are Something Else showed, in the autumn of 2017, pastel drawings by Vanessa Baird made especially for Kunstnernes Hus.
From Vanessa Baird's biting masterful satire, it is our own horror that staring back.
