Skulptur underveis
Catalog text
The directorate has noted that in recent years there has been a marked tendency among sculptors to seek new paths, and that these tendencies have not been expressed in a wider manifestation.
Two years ago, Kunstnernes Hus therefore contacted three sculptors who were thought to be considered for a presentation of recent Norwegian sculpture. These have assisted the House with advice on the exhibition's scope and layout. It was decided at an early stage that the exhibitors should meet at regular intervals to present their views and ideas. Following suggestions from these meetings, the number of participants has been constantly expanded, and during the course of the work, enough ideas and material have emerged for several similar exhibitions in the future.
The house has recently used new working methods for exhibition arrangements, and this exhibition is the result of the attempt to involve the artists themselves in the planning process. In the catalogue, each participant presents himself and his work.
The scheme has always been open and subject to change, and we have therefore found it adequate when we use the working title we had for the project in the initial phase; "Sculpture in progress".
