With great pleasure we go to this meeting with Peru's artists - the old as well as the new. It seems to us to be of the greatest importance that here in this country we get the never-so-small opportunity to expand our artistic horizons.

The credit for making this happen goes primarily to the superintendent at the Gothenburg Museum, Alfred Westholm, who has taken the initiative to have the 23 Peruvian painters from our time presented in Sweden and Norway.

But we must also express our gratitude to Thor Heyerdahl, who with the greatest hospitality has allowed us to supplement the exhibition with a selection of old Peruvian art from his collections.

We thank them both heartily — and welcome the audience.
