Japan idag

The Japan Today exhibition was a huge boost for Kunstnernes Hus. This was an exhibition that breaks the boundaries of what is usually understood by an art exhibition.
The aim of the exhibition was to show as many sides as possible of the visual design of architecture and contemporary Japanese society.
The main emphasis of this exhibition is on architecture, design and photography. What was presented by painting and sculpture also shows how the new avant-garde styles are conveyed in the fashion of Japanese experience and attitude to life.
The installations in this exhibition were made especially for this traveling exhibition, which was arranged in collaboration with the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and with support from The Japan Foundation.
The exhibition consisted of four themes grouped into two main sections; Tradition and Modernity and Complexity and Assimilation. See the catalogue that accompanied the exhibition for more information: Louisiana Revy no. 3 June 1995.
The exhibition was very well attended and received good press and media coverage.
