The triptych is made up of three images generated by texts that were altered over three weeks by the artist in dialogue with a machine learning algorithm. The algorithm is designed to classify, find patterns and make informed decisions. The process resulted in three images of the American athlete Jesse Owens overcoming hurdles.

Ayo Akinsete (b. 1989) is a Nigerian-American artist whose work confronts and investigates the emotional spaces that arise from dissociations at the core of Black experience. The work constitutes photographs, images and text that serve as meditations on Black identity.
