Arthur Jafa (b. 1960) is a Los Angeles-based artist and filmmaker. Mickey Mouse Was a Scorpio was part of the exhibition A Series of Utterly Improbable, Yet Extraordinary Renditions, which has been presented at the Serpentine Galleries in London (2017), Julia Stoschek Collection in Berlin (2018), and Moderna Museet in Stockholm (2019). This internationally acclaimed exhibition questions our representation of identity and ethnicity.

Jafa won The Golden Lion at the Venice Biennial in 2019. He was part of the exhibition Medicine for a Nightmare where his film Love is the Message, the Message is Death was shown alongside Norwegian artist Frida Orupabo.
