Welcome to the opening of three exhibitions: James Richards: Our Friends in the Audience in the lower gallery space and cinema, the MFA graduation exhibition Free Education for All: It is Time in the skylight halls and Sticks, Stones & Stitches in the Academy Room.

Program

17:00 Doors open for James Richards: Our Friends in the Audience in the lower exhibition hall & cinema

17:30 Richards' installation is activated through a performance featuring vocalist and performance artist Alexey Kokhanov, along with a film program curated in dialogue with the curatorial collective anorak, presenting works by Jordan Strafer, Marguerite Duras, Mary Helena Clark, and Tolia Astakhishvili: PERFECTLY REASONABLE DEVIATIONS

19:00 Opening of Free Education for All: It is Time in the stairwell. Speeches by Sarah Lookofsky (KH), Saskia Holmkvist and Manuel Pelmuş (Art Academy). Performance by Edvard Skodvin and Paulina Stroynowska.

19:00 Opening of Sticks, Stones & Stitches at the Academy Room.

20:30 Performance by Wenche Sandra M Disington, upper gallery

21:00 Performance by Edvard Sundt Skodvin, upper gallery

Free entrance – open to all. The exhibitions close at 22:00; DJ and open house until 01:00.

About the exhibitions

James Richards: Our Friends in the Audience

With Our Friends in the Audience, James Richards (b. 1983 in Wales, based in Berlin) presents a new installation across the cinema and lower gallery space, exploring the boundaries of both cinematic and exhibition formats and examining how we navigate and are shaped by images.

Our Friends in the Audience is part of Kunstnernes Hus' new focus on moving images, supported by Fritt Ord and Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.

Free Education for all: It is Time. MFA Degree Show 2024

The graduation students in fine arts at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts present their master projects in the upper galleries. Featuring works by: Abirami Logendran, Adin Music, Ane Barstad Solvang, Anne-Marte Før, Edvard Skodvin, Eili Bråstad, Ghazaal Nasiri, Iben Erik Bødker-Næss, Kim Henning Andreassen, Lea Stuedahl, Madelon Verbeek, Paulina Stroynowska, Sampson Addae, Santiago Díaz Escamilla, Steinar Brovold Hauge, and Wenche Sandra M. Disington.

Exhibition by Lieu Le, Annikken Wilhelmsen, Kjetil Smedal, and Lloyd Achim Winter - students in Design at Oslo National Academy of the Arts as part of the exhibition series KHiO QuARTerly.
