Welcome to a new edition of the lecture series Agenda Art and Craft, a collaboration between the Oslo Art Academy and Kunstnernes Hus.

About the event

To be human, to grow up, realize and perceive, is often though of as a self-realization, but for those who have spent a few years traversing this planet and this world, it is just as much about the world around one self, to understand the voices of others, their realities, so that one can become a person in the world, with people, and not lonely observing it from the sideline.

Through art, literature, research and academia one can see all the attempts, the successes, the at first failed attempts that we still learn a great deal from, to understand the world not only from ones own vantage point, but an active attempt at giving a voice, a space, an image to someone, ore something else. That being a situation, people, different groups, an object, or history so that one realizes one self in connection to a greater entity and not in the singular. This «voicing» is an attempt at understanding the world, but it is also to give voice, to expand the space, the community both global and local the we inhabit, and through that learn, see, and understand all the parts that make up our world and the people in it.

In this Agenda we will look at how this idea can be explored and articulated though different forms, shapes and strategies, which will not aim at giving one correct and definitive answer, nor a complete image from north to west, outer space to inner space. But rather this Agenda will show how art, literature, research and many other fields actively work at, and explores, how to give a voice, give language, and sometimes just simple words, not only for others to understand, but so that they can speak of their own realities and experience, and in that manner let us partake in the world together.
