Soft Sculpting

Workshop with Sara-Lovise Ask Ewertson
18.03.23 – 19.03.23
Soft sculpting

In this workshop, you get the opportunity to experiment and explore the relationship between sculpture and clothing - how clothing and accessories can also be experienced as art objects. The workshop is suitable for anyone with an interest in clothes and art, and for those of you who like to express yourself creatively and explore physical materials, either as a hobby or in your professional life. Course instructor and artist Sara-Lovise Ask Ewertson calls the technique "Soft Sculpting".

About the workshop

In this workshop you get the opportunity to experiment and explore the relationship between sculpture and clothing - how clothing and accessories can also be experienced as art objects. The workshop is suitable for anyone with an interest in clothes and art, and for you who like to express yourself creatively and explore physical materials, either as a hobby or in your professional life. In her own artistic practice, Ask Ewertson works with the deconstruction of clothes - by first picking them apart and unfolding them, she builds up new patterns and formal constructions. The workshop aims to enable the participants to process clothes more directly. Through clipping, bouncing, gluing, drilling, cutting and sewing, the participants can create sculptures that can be mounted on a base, hung on the wall or worn as accessories or clothing. You choose! Ask Ewertsson calls the technique "Soft Sculpting".

For the workshop, the artist has hand-picked bags, caps, chains, belts and much more from the second-hand market for the participants to dabble in. You are also welcome to bring your own material if you wish. We provide tools such as sewing machine, rhinestone wand, glue gun, threads, needles, screwdrivers, drill, heat press and a machine to cut out textile foil.

Sara-Lovise Ask Ewertson begins each course by presenting her own artistic practice.

Thanks to Sparebankstiftelsen DNB for making the project possible.
