Welcome to this very special Agenda, where we will kick off The Department of Art and Craft’s residency, and exhibition series in the Academy Room at Kunstnernes Hus in March. Through an Open Call, Susanne Winterling has planned out a series of exhibitions, and talks —with Marius Moldvær as collaborator and at times co-curator—that will begin on March 1, 2024.

About the event

In this Kick-Off-Agenda two presentations from students in the MA2, Belén Santillán and Rajat Mondal will focus on collaboration, taking as their starting point the two individuals artists project collaborating with and between different fields, outside that of art. The Agenda will begin with a short presentation from Marius Moldvær where he speculates on the different forms of research and collaboration art-making can take, and will conclude with a conversation between Susanne Winterling, Marius Moldvær, Rajat Mondal, Belén Santillán, Wei Ting Zeng, and….

The Agenda will continue in collaboration with the MFA in Medium- and Material Based Art with a panel with Yacoube Cisse, Damien Ajavon and Susanne M. Winterling on Monday the 4th of March, as well as a ceremonial handing over of the keys of the Academy room to Rajat Mondal for the exhibition Echoes of Resilience Nature's Unyielding Spirit opening on the 7th of March.

Belén Santillán

Belén Santillán (Ecuador) works at the intersection of art and education. Her practice involves participatory projects, workshops, and roles at fictional and non-fictional art institutions.

Wei Ting Zeng

Wei Ting Tseng/ Zeng is a cellist and composer from Taiwan based in Oslo, Norway. During her study of Master of Music Performance in FRIMA in The Norwegian Academy of Music, she focuses on improvised cello, composition, and the relationship between space in music and music in space.

Wei Ting’s Master project involves integrating structures inspired by the space's acoustics into improvisation and composition, and moving the space by manipulating the acoustics. Furthermore, the project will discuss the roles of improvisers, audiences, and acoustic factors in relation to the space, and how these roles rotate during the performance. Her upcoming works include the album of “As silent as bombs -Overture, Bang, Whiteness” and the premier of “Cello Quintet, for 4 cellos and one space”.

Rajat Mondal

Rajat Mondal (b. India, 1995), is an intermedia artist based in Oslo, Norway. He believes in creating a space which allows oneself to reflect the deeper meanings of life and his works are based on experimentation towards material, media, mechanics, and custom electronics based on combining handmade and technological processes including painting, video, and sound. The principal motivation is nature's-ecology focusing on ephemerality, spaces, a revelation of intimacy, and reflection. His projects are independent and collaborative. His compositions are formed around ideas of ephemeral behavior. Rajat develops broad artistry where he sees movement, transaction of layers, and animate movement.

Rajat received BFA from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata (2018) MFA from Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad, India (2019) and Diplôme National D'art from école supérieure d’arts & médias de Caen, France (2022). Currently, he is appearing his master's in Medium and Material Based Art from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (Kunsthøgskolen I Oslo). He has exhibited his work in école supérieure d’arts médias de caen and received all india kalanand merit grant from Prafulla Dahanukar art foundation(2020-21) and did a collaboration project with Tata institute of fundamental research, Hyderabad (2018).

Haroon Khan

received his PhD in Engineering from Oslo Metropolitan University; master’s and bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Air University. Currently, he is is working at Oslo Metropolitan University. as Assistant Professor. His research interest includes analyzing human gait and balance using mobile neuroimaging modalities, fNIRS-based brain-computer interface, assistive and rehabilitation device development.
