21:15–21:45 — Meshwar Mixtapes: Intro to Palestine w/ DumTak
Palestinian DJ DumTak guides audiences through an exploration of Palestinian identity, heritage, and longing for home. Through curated music, storytelling, visuals, and translated lyrics, the session moves beyond headlines to engage personal, cultural, and emotional dimensions of Palestinian life, creating space for reflection, connection, and dialogue.
22:00–22:30 — Solo concert: Endless Voice w/ Simin Tander
In this solo set by internationally acclaimed Oslo-based, German-Afghan singer-composer Simin Tander, the voice takes center stage: a journey through distant cultures, emotions, and poetry, from beatboxing to songs, spoken word to laments. Raw, powerful, yet tender and transparent. When Simin Tander sings, much more happens than the vibration of vocal cords; her singing is pleaded, shaped, and whispered, a deep listening to her own soul.
23:00–02:00 — DumTak Dance Party
The night closes with a DumTak dance party, where Arabic classics, SWANA underground, and club sounds converge into collective celebration.
Oslo-based, German-Afghan singer and composer Simin Tander is internationally acclaimed for her emotionally evocative voice and genre defying music. She received the Annual German Record Critics' Award in 2016 for her ECM album with pianist Tord Gustavsen and was nominated for the German Jazz Prize 2024 in the "Vocal" category.
With four solo albums to her name, she also regularly appears in transcultural projects with artists such as Jan Bang, Nils Petter Molvær, Nils Henrik Asheim, Michel Godard and many more. By singing in the Afghan language Pashto she draws a fascinating route to her Mid Eastern heritage. Her distinctive vocal improvisations—marked by a deep sense of freedom—have shaped performances on leading international jazz stages for over two decades, alongside collaborations with the UNESCO and UN Women. She also teaches voice and improvisation at the Music Academy of Music and Dance Cologne, Germany.
Simin's latest album "THE WIND" (2025, Jazzland Recordings) includes re-imagined poetry and songs in 5 languages beside her own compositions.
