Welcome to a new edition of Artists presenting artists, a series that invites artists to talk about our current exhibitions from their personal and professional point of view.

This time, the artist and writer Nikhil Vettukattil will be presenting Kim Hiorthøy's exhibition Hole in the Wall. Hiorthøy himself will be present and engage in the conversation.

In conversation

Kim Hiorthøy (b. 1973, Norway) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Trondheim, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, the School of Visual Arts in New York and The School of Dance and Circus in Stockholm. He has a longstanding career as a graphic designer and illustrator, in addition to having worked with music, text, performance and film. In 2017, he made the feature film The Rules for Everything, which was screened in Norwegian cinemas. In 2019, he published the book Ferdig omslag kommer snart (Finished Cover Coming Soon), a collection of his design and illustration works from 1994-2019. In August 2022, his new book Knivtid (Knife time) will be published by Forlaget Oktober.

Nikhil Vettukattil (b. 1990) is an artist who lives and works in Oslo. Using a range of media such as sound, installation, performance, text, sculpture, and video, his practice questions modes of representation and image-making processes in their relations to lived experiences. He has previously exhibited at venues such as Kunstnerforbundet (2022), Nasjonalmuseet (2022), Kunsthall Oslo (2022), K-U-K, Trondheim (2021), CAPC, Bordeaux (2021), Art Hub Copenhagen (2021), and K4 Galleri, Oslo (2021). He is a part of the art collectives Tenthaus and Carrie, Atelier Kunstnerforbundet (2021-2023), and The Institute for Scene Experiments.
