Family Saturday
Saturday 18.01.25
This Saturday we invite children, accompanied by adults, to a memorable and family-friendly tour with activities in Jannik Abel's exhibition Back to the Land. In the exhibition, we get to know Abel's way of working and the unique characteristics of her art, but also about the significance of the fact that they are made of wood and therefore form part of a natural cycle where they can be transformed into soil. In the exhibition, we get to use all our senses, which also means that we can both touch and smell some of the works of art. In the workshop, we use our hands to explore and create our own works of twigs and wood under the guidance of visual artist Mari Meen Halsøy.
About the exhibition
Jannik Abel's exhibition will explore how to create with material limitations, but without limitations in format and intention. Back to the Land is about re-establishing connections to the landscapes that over time have become underestimated, even repressed. The title also refers to the global movement "Land Back", which aims to return land to indigenous peoples.
