Thurayya Alkury
Thurayya Alkury is a professional chef with a fascination for handling food and bringing smiles by making bellies happy. Her curiosity about finding new ingredients, tools, and cooking methods has driven her to work in kitchens, big and small, all around the world. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a diploma in culinary arts, with 15+ years of experience in the food and beverage industry.
A believer in the power of storytelling, she uses the anthropology of food to create narratives that hit closer to body (Home). In more recent years, her interest in healing through somatic experiencing, taking form in movement, breathing, role play, art making, or sound making, has made its way into her culinary work through what she likes to call experimental experience making.
Thurayya is Palestinian, and founder of Hummus Sapiens & The Gaza Experience. You’ll find her in Oslo watching bees pollinate flowers on any flowering day of the year.
