Naza

Under the night sky on Tel Aviv’s rooftops, the Oscar-winning directors of No Other Land (2024) speak with Israeli soldiers who reveal the AI-powered systematic killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
About the film
In the film, the result of three years of work conducted in secrecy, we see director Yuval Abraham listening to 24 Israeli military intelligence officers and soldiers, all speaking anonymously, as they recount in detail their involvement in the surveillance and remote killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza following October 7, 2023. Their appearances and voices have been digitally altered to conceal their identities. “NAZA” is an acronym used by Israeli intelligence for “collateral damage,” referring to the number of civilians they expect to be killed in an airstrike.
From directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor:
We made this film out of a sense of duty to use our position as Israelis to examine the systems behind the mass killing of Palestinian civilians for which our country bears responsibility. Over the three years we worked on the film, we asked ourselves the same questions that our grandparents’ generation – and people throughout the 20th century – have asked: How can one group of people allow another to be completely dehumanized? What are the inner workings of such a system?
Naza builds on investigative reporting published by The Guardian and +972 Magazine and Local Call. Jonathan Glazer (The Zone of Interest) is executive producer.
