With a characteristic voice over thinking aloud and a camera facing the immediate surroundings - a dog, a hearing aid, the ageing body - Haugsgjerd's More Woman, More Cry explores themes such as age, time, family relationships and the role art plays in life. Without embarrassment, but full of doubt, the film shows a liberated filmmaker who assesses her life asking the question: What comes next?

The film is shown together with two previous short films: An Island in the Sun - about women seeking love in Gran Canaria and Aileen, my red-haired friend - a portrait of a complex friend, painter, exhibitionist and feminist who has settled in the French countryside.

Anne Haugsgjerd (b. 1944) was originally trained as a graphic artist at the Norwegian School of Crafts and Design, but has been making films since the 1980s. She works in the short film format and in the intersection between fiction and documentary. She herself has described her often humorous and reflective, biographical and self-revealing films as "bastards". Her most famous film Life at Frogner (1986) received both the Amanda nomination and the audience award at the Short Film Festival in Grimstad. Later, she has been presented several times at the renowned Oberhausen short film festival where also More Woman, More Cry premiered.

It was recently announced that Anne Haugsgjerd is among the three selected artists for the prestigious Scholarship Exhibition (Stipendutstillingen) under the auspices of Sparebankstiftelsen DNB and Oslo Kunstforening.
