HIM

Guro Bruusgaard in conversation with Leonie Merkl
Sunday 27.06.21

Welcome to the screening of Guro Bruusgaard's debut feature film HIM! We are pleased that the filmmaker will be joining us for a conversation after the film. Leonie Merkl (Kunstnernes Hus) will host the conversation.

An unusually sharp and nuanced look on the relevance of "superfluous" men.

About the film

HIM follows one boy and two men through a day in their lives, in which they experience both social and emotional downfalls. The renowned screenwriter Petter was set out to make a major film about Fridtjof Nansen, but loses the job due to gender equality policies, and subsequently struggles with an inferiority complex. The pupil Harald longs for recognition without being seen either by the teacher or at home. Unemployed Eirik is humiliated at NAV, but no one seems to care about what he has to say.

HIM
combines tragedy with comedy, carried forward by brilliant actors, and tells a story about exclusion, abuse and the male role in Western society.
