Reconstructing Utøya (Carl Javér, 2018, 1h 31 min, Norwegian language) documents the process of four survivors from Utøya coming together with a psychologist and twelve young people who want to understand and help them understand. Together, they reconstruct the survivors' memories in a film studio in northern Norway. Before the film, we'll be screening the video Notes on a Memorial (2018, 35 min, English language) by artist Jonas Dahlberg about the process and politics around the memorial site of the massacre on July 22, 2011. The film had its Norwegian premiere at Kunstnernes Hus Kino last year.

As part of the event, the book Bearbeidelser (Universitetsforlaget, editor Anne Gjelsvik) about and with artistic adaptations of 22 July will be launched, with a number of contributions that reflect on how the terrorist incident has been treated in various art forms. The National Library is organizing the conference Artistic adaptations of 22 July on Monday, November 30.

Anne Gjelsvik is a professor of film studies at the Department of Art and Media Studies, NTNU, where she leads the research project «Face of Terror». She investigates in particular the relationship between film and society and has written a large number of books and articles on Norwegian and international film.

Mads Outzen is a PhD fellow in film studies at the Department of Art and Media Studies at NTNU, where he writes about the ethical potential of film in the face of terror as part of the research project "Face of Terror". He also has extensive experience as a film lecturer, film critic and film curator.

Sille Storihle is an artist who works with moving images and text, covering topics such as gender politics, nationalism and history.

Eirik Frisvold Hanssen is the section leader for film and broadcasting at the National Library. He has previously worked as an associate professor of film studies at NTNU.
