My Art History
Would you like to learn more about the history of art and gain deeper insight into the relationships of living artists with their predecessors in art and aesthetics?
My Art History is a series of lectures in which artists tell us about their relationship with art history based on their own artistry. We invite artists with various backgrounds and areas of interest that can collectively illuminate art history from different perspectives. This is the history of art seen through an artist's gaze and the personal art histories that artists themselves carry. The idea behind the series is to convey and make visible new art stories that may have been ignored in light of the great master narratives and eternal repetition of a narrow group of artists, theorists and critics. By focusing on narrations by currently active artists, we move away from chronological narrative structures and open up for new associations, backwards glances and art stories that surprise and move across established structures. These will be richly illustrated lectures as an entrance to, and immersion in, contemporary art, as well as interesting extensions of the art history you may know from before.
The lectures take place at Kunstnernes Hus Cinema.
