About the artist
Rudolph Thygesen (1880-1953) was a Norwegian painter from Oslo. He was a student at Christian Skredsvig's open-air studio at Berg in Eggedal, and later at Harriet Backer's school and then at Kristian Zahrtmann's school in Copenhagen.
Edvard Munch was an important source of inspiration for Thygesen, which can be seen in several of his paintings.
He is represented in, among others, the National museum of Norway.
