There are many people who have taken part in the preparations for this exhibition and who have contributed to making it possible. This of course primarily applies to everyone who has lent treasures from their collections - museum staff and private individuals at home and abroad. We must, however, make special mention of certain individuals who have also been helpful to us in other ways: M. Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler, Picasso's longtime friend and art dealer, and his assistant M. Maurice Jardot, Paris - the Norwegian Press Council in Paris, Håkon Bugge-Mahrt , Mr. Alfred H. Barr, jr., who has not only loaned us works from his department in the Museum of Modern Art, but has also obtained loans from private collectors in the United States, dr. phil. Haavard Rostrup, Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Copenhagen, who have stood by us in terms of loans from Denmark, and finally the two Norwegian art collectors and art friends lieutenant colonel Valdemar Ebbesen and director Rolf E.
