In 1968, Kunstnernes Hus had the pleasure of presenting an exhibition with Kåre Tveter (1922-2012). The exhibition had 34 works, which were made between the years 1956 and 1968. Works such as Moonlit night by the sea from 1965, Cold winter light from 1968 and Sunset at the straw stack from 1968.

About the artist

Kåre Tveter was born in Sør-Odal in 1922. Tveter was a Norwegian painter, graphic artist and illustrator. He was educated at the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts, and made his debut at the state's Autumn Exhibition in 1961. Tveter has had a number of solo exhibitions in Norway and abroad. He is represented, among others, at the National Gallery, the National Gallery and the Bergen Picture Gallery.

Tveter is best known for his Svalbard motifs. In many of his works, there is a minimalistic, abstracted style using watercolor and oil paint. Nature motifs are often found in Tveter's works.
