Håkon Stenstadvold

In 1963, Kunstnernes hus had a retrospective exhibition with Håkon Stenstadvold (1912-1977). The exhibition had a total of 109 works, consisting of watercolours, oil paintings, printed matter, book illustrations and tapestries. The works were painted between 1961 and 1962.
About the artist
Håkon Stensstadvold was born in 1912 and grew up in Sarpsborg. He was a Norwegian painter, draftsman and graphic artist. Already at the age of 15, Stensstadvold made a book with illustrations for Norwegian history. He was later a student at the art academy. Stensstadvold went on to publish several art books, was an art critic and active in art organisations. He also made several decorations.
