14.11.64 – 03.01.65
1964 2

In 1964 there was an exhibition in collaboration with Bergens Kunstforening, a retrospective exhibition on Georges Braque (1882–1963) at the Kunstnernes Hus. Bergen Billedgalleri was the first museum outside of France to purchase a work by Braque. Works by Braque had already been exhibited at the Kunstnernes Hus in 1931 and 1938. The 1964-exhibition includes paintings, collages, sculpture and graphic works.

Excerpt from the Exhibition Catalogue

Georges Braque (1964)

"We have all the reason to thank Norway and our Norwegian friends for their admirable foresight, and it is only natural that one of the first Braque-exhibitions after the artists' death is to be held in Norway."

- Jean Cassou
