About the exhibition

A graduation exhibition marks the end of a process of art school education, but if the education works, it will be the start of a lifelong career. For the young artists whose work is exhibited here, this exhibition primarily marks a brief moment, before they leave the framework of the school behind and continue to develop their artistic practice on their own terms.

No idea can possibly truly sum up the apparent serendipity or coincidences that have brought this heterogeneous group of people together, but temporality and place are strong common denominators here – these young artists are a disparate collection of individuals, with diverging interests, experiences and starting points in four continents . What they have in common is that they have all spent the last two years, and a considerable amount of time, together here at the Art Academy in Oslo, and they have developed an artistic practice that is informed by this professional exchange, while at the same time as artists they insist on their individuality. They constitute a voice of confidence. What they all have in common, albeit in different ways, is that they have an international orientation, and that they travel, all the time, even when they were students.

And what may seem fundamentally different to the artists themselves, may to others appear to be a group that is clearly characterized by age, place, professional context and individual disciplines.

Coordinator for the exhibition is: Elise Storsveen
