Y-block: An ongoing debate

Conversation and debate
Friday 14.02.20

There are storms brewing around the Y-block, and the time is right for a longer conversation and open debate. This event is organised by Campaign to Save the Y-block in cooperation with Kunstnernes Hus.

Please note that there is a limited number of seats; the first come, first served-principle applies. The debate will be recorded and published afterwards.

Om arrangementet

Campaign to Save the Y-block has invited Lars Elton (art and architecture critic) to a conversation with Kjetil A. Jakobsen (historian and author), Hugo Lauritz Jenssen (journalist and author, amongst others of the book "Høyblokka"), Parliamentary politician and former Minister of Climate and Environment Ola Elvestuen, and Siri Hoem (civil architect and architect; Fortidsminneforeningen).

All guests have been engaged in the Y-block debate on a large and insightful scale, and we look forward to hearing them discuss topics such as:

  • Implications for the urban environment
  • Safety aspects
  • What does this case say about the conditions for the development of democracy in today's society?
  • The history of the government. How to get better at memory policy and cultural protection?

Besides, Campaign to Save the Y-block is working to get further politicians to answer these questions and participate. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.
