About the event
The book launch and lecture at Kunstnernes Hus mark the fourth launch event. On November 3, 4, and 5, three separate events will take place at KODE, Tekstalmenningen, and Tag Team Studio in Bergen. Kurt Johannessen has been working with books since 1984; he now has his 149th book ready. The book’s form and content invite it to be given to anyone who wishes to have it. Its title and details remain a secret; the title and information about the content will be revealed on Kurt’s website, www.zeth.no, on November 10.
About the artist
Kurt Johannessen works primarily with performance art and books. Through a poetic, minimalist, and often humorous approach, he explores the relationship between language, the body, place, and presence, creating art that invites silence, reflection, and new ways of experiencing the world. He has created a series of performance lectures, many based on the book series "Om noko" (About Something), which he launched in 2011.
Johannessen (b. 1960) is originally from Dale in Hordaland but lives and works in Bergen. He has presented his work nationally and internationally for over four decades and has published a large number of artist's books through his own publishing house, Zeth.
