Starting on October 14, 2025, the Composition Forum will be arranged once a month with intersecting themes between modern music, other art forms and political issues. Famous artists will be invited across disciplines, nerd level, taste, smell, intelligence, and genres. In other words: “Composition” will be understood in its most radically open meaning.

Bente Leiknes Thorsen is one of the central composers of her generation and has particularly attracted interest with a series of works where recordings of her children are in dialogue with instrumental forces, with both comic and horror-like results, as in the orchestral work Unleash.

Astrid Solberg works within a number of different media constellations, with a unique artistic voice that can be both deeply personal, painful and humorous, for example in the audiovisual work beleider geil gutem Autos sind uns ganz vorm.

Hild Borchgrevink is an artist in several art forms, as well as a musicologist, critic and researcher at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

Jennifer Torrence is one of the world's leading percussionists with a special interest in contemporary music, and also has a broad range of activities as a writer and researcher at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

The Composition Department at the Norwegian Academy of Music has been running its legendary Composition Forum since the dawn of time. The time has come to break out of our esoteric club in a poorly ventilated cocoon in the labyrinthine basement of the Norwegian Academy of Music. Air! Air!

The forums are free and open to all. An interest in art and/or music is no obstacle. The series is run and curated by Trond Reinholdtsen, Guoste Tamulynaite and Fredrik Blichfelt.
