Cate Blanchett excels in the role of the classical composer Lydia Tár, which secured her the award for best actress at the 2022 Venice Film Festival.

About the film

Cate Blanchett is Lydia Tár: a pioneering, talented and controversial figure in classical music. She is the first female principal conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic, and one of the few so-called EGOTs (winner of the prestigious Emmy Award, Grammy Award, Oscar and Tony Award). Lydia enjoys the recognition and fame she has earned throughout her career, but her success comes with a price: she is both cold and ruthless, which will cost her dearly. Tár is a fascinating portrait of a complex woman, abuse of power and the classical music scene.

About the filmmaker

William Todd Field (b. 1964) is an American actor, screenwriter and filmmaker, best known for his award-winning feature films In the Bedroom (2001), Little Children (2006) and Tàr (2022).
