About the film

The pain and frustration of young Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are shown through the prism of a parkour team.

When Abdallah, the founder of the Gaza Parkour Team, was invited to Europe a few years ago, he decided to aim to become a professional athlete and not to return to Gaza. Today his friend and teammate Jehad still lives segregated in the Strip. Everyday he trains the youngest members of the team to help them keep their hopes alive through sport, but he too dreams of leaving Palestine. One day Abdallah decides that the time has come to join the main European parkour competition in Sweden. In the same days Jehad finally receives the visa he has been waiting for years. Can you ever be free if you must leave everything you loved behind?

Statement from Palestine Cinema Days

In the midst of the genocide against our people in Gaza, the Palestinian narrative is being distorted by international news outlets and public officials that continue to dehumanize us and our suffering. The genocide against the Palestinian people is being legitimized and everything we have strived for since 1948 is under threat. In light of these war crimes comitted by Israel against our people in Gaza, Palestine Cinema Days will not take place in Palestine this year. Instead we will take our story and our voice beyond the borders. Our friends and partners from around the world will organizing screenings of past films by Palestinians and about Palestine, creating a space for representation and narratives that come directly from Palestinians.

A statement from Kunstnernes Hus in solidarity with Palestine

We at Kunstnernes Hus condemn the horrific loss of civilian lives in Palestine and Israel and recent escalations, genocidal acts and war crimes in Gaza. We stand with the Palestinian community in the occupied territories and around the world, who have experienced dehumanising language and actions for decades. We condemn violence and apartheid in all its forms and support the right for everyone to live outside conditions of occupation, persecution and oppression.

We also stand in solidarity with our colleagues in institutions in many national contexts whose efforts for presentation, discussion, education, support and protest have met censorship, repression and the withdrawal of funding.

We demand that Norwegian authorities, the current government and the prime minister denounce current attacks and war crimes in Gaza.
