There are a multitude of films teaching small children the primary words available, but none of them are in saami language. Due of this, Ann Holmgren made a series of word-films, both for her own sons and for all Saami children. In the films, children get to know the words with the help of imagination, colour, rhythm, music, beauty and humour. The words are presented in a world where they can recognize things and clothes from their own culture.

The films were financed by the International Sami Film Institute, Sametinget and Saami Council. It has been shown at Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Göteborg barn- och ungdomsfilmsfestival, Skabmagovvat International Film Festival and at Kunstnernes Hus Kino.

Ann Holmgren is a Saami/Scandinavian film director, educated at the Norwegian Film School. She is currently working on her first feature film.
