About the film

Spanning over several decades, Beau Is Afraid, follows the story of a neurotic and anxious entrepreneur, Beau Wassermann, mainly through his intense journey of getting home to his mother. Blending comedy with horror this epic surreal tale takes us through feelings of overwhelming paranoia, loss and crippling anxiety.

About the filmmaker

Ari Aster (b. 1986) is an American director, writer and producer, who is mostly known for his horror features Hereditary (2018) and Midsommar (2019). He's also made several short films, such as The Strange Thing About the Johnsons (2011), Munchausen (2013) and Beau (2011). The latter is said to have been the inspiration for his latest feature film Beau Is Afraid (2023).
