Sentimental Value

Joachim Trier's latest film takes us into a complex family portrait where the past meets the present in unexpected ways. The critically acclaimed Sentimental Value won the Grand Prix at Cannes 2025 and will finally be screened at Kunstnernes Hus.
We follow actress Nora and her sister Agnes when their charismatic father, Gustav, suddenly reappears in their lives after a long absence. Gustav was once a renowned film director and now wants Nora in the lead role of his major comeback. Working with her father is the last thing Nora can imagine. She declines, and in steps American actress Rachel Kemp, who comes to Norway to play the role Gustav wrote for Nora.
Suddenly, the two sisters must not only deal with their father – they also have a Hollywood star wandering around their childhood home, right in the middle of the family's personal drama.
