Blikkåpner Oslo is a collaboration between Kunstnernes Hus and Astrup Fearnley Museum, and from autumn 2023 we welcome the projects new partner UKS (Young Artists' Society).

Blikkåpner Oslo consists of 15 young people from Oslo's 15 city districts. In the 2023/2024 school year Blikkåpnerne will work in teams to communicate the art offers at the institutions Kunstnernes Hus, Astrup Fearnley Museum and UKS to other youths. By organizing their own events, workshops and tours, Blikkåpnere conveys art on their own terms.

Background

Every year a new generation of 15 Blikkåpnere is recruited. The teenagers are between 16 and 19 years old and receive a one year paid part-time job of around four hours per week, distributed between the three institutions. The participants represent the 15 different districts in Oslo and will collaborate to reach out to other young people by creating events and content. Blikkåpnerne use their own experiences and interests as starting point for communicating art.

The program is inspired by Blikopeners at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and is part of a larger collaboration between several art institutions in Eastern Norway. The project is financed with support from Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.
